CBD: Natural Medicine, Palliative Care & the Hidden Hand of the Hemp Industry
We’re excited to have Andy Brine, founder of Optimal Hemp (www.optimal-hemp.com) joining us for this one-off special seminar. For those who missed it, Andy gave a short talk at our summer Health & Wellness Show, which received a tonne of positive feedback (and lots of questions!). Since then, lots of happened in the world of hemp, and we’re pleased to have the chance to share this with you all.
CBD oil (cannabidiol) is a non-psychoactive compound of the cannabis plant, and is fast becoming recognised for its powerful health benefits. These include the potential for pain relief, combating anxiety and sleep issues, reducing the risk of diabetes, fighting disease, preventing seizures and maintaining brain health. It has also been suggested to be a powerful means of relieving the side effects of cancer treatment.
Long has been the battle towards legalisation of this potent elixir gifted to us by nature, but taken away by a few in power for monetary gain. After ongoing insistence by masses of people who have experienced the medicinal properties of CBD for themselves, it has finally been given the legal status it deserves. This is a fantastic achievement by the public, and a fine example of how persistent, heartfelt ‘people power’ can overcome the power of even those in the highest of places.
That said, the legalisation has led to stringent, often even seemingly preposterous rules and regulations of the substance. Andy in particular has been subject to these, and in this talk will also touch on the difficulties experienced in trying to make this medicine (although legal) easily available to the masses. He was faced with constant barriers as a supplier, including from the ‘Trade Organisation’, PayPal, the banking industry and social media ‘regulations’, and this ultimately led to his recent decision to leave the hemp industry, as a business, behind.
This is set to be a fantastic talk, with eye-opening elements not just on how CBD can be used for an array of uses, including demo massages with CBD and aromatherapy oils, but also highlighting the ‘shadow’ of the now-legal industry, and what factors might be causing the strings to be pulled in certain ways. So if you’re ready to be informed, please come and join us!
