R-B-F (previously Rhondda Breast Friends)

RBF was formed in April 2006 by a group of ladies who had been affected directly and indirectly by breast cancer. They realised there was a lack of information and support still required by breast cancer patients after they had been discharged from their Consultant.  We are the only specialised breast cancer support group in the Rhondda Valleys.  2012 Open Day

We not only provide courses and sessions for our members to attend, we are also “a drop in” centre for our members and the public to pop in for a cup of tea and a chat.

Some of our members feel they cannot “share the burden” of living with cancer with their family and friends, they can often feel very isolated, so they visit the Centre and here they are able to speak freely to us or other members in a confidential manner of any problems or concerns arising within their life that hopefully we can resolve for them.

2012 Craft Club 2

By offering a range of activities to improve their skills and creativity, it gives our members goals to achieve in the future. It also greatly improves their quality of life for those people facing possibly the most challenging time of their lives; we hope to reinforce the positive aspect of living with a life limiting health condition.

Sessions and courses available to our members:
  •  Complimentary therapies
  • One to one counselling, hypnotherapy and a group support network
  • Light seated exercise class
  • Computer studies and a craft club
  • Monthly coffee mornings and evening meetings

We also provide pamper days, day trips and invite interesting guest speakers to our meetings.  We attend various events raising awareness of breast cancer and encourage our members and supporters to join us in fundraising for donations towards RBF.
