Volunteer position

Client Services Assistant

We are seeking a voluntary Client Services Assistant to support the charity with client bookings, answering the phone and general administration.

The ideal candidate will provide a high quality, safe and supportive environment for clients, their carers and the general public within the centre, assist the administration with the day to day running of the centre, look after clients and their needs, as well as operating the hydroxy machines.

Hours

2 days per week on a Thursday and Friday.

Key Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:

Event Administration:

  • Assist in setting up and clearing up after events.

Client Services Administration:

  • Assisting in management of our internal scheduler and client booking system.

  • Process confidential information and files for new clients.

  • Setting up and management of the hydroxy therapy machines.

Other Duties:

  • Reception and telephone duties.

  • Maintaining a clean environment at the centre, including laundry.

  • Other reasonable requests by your line manager.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
  • GCSE English Grade C or above

  • GCSE Maths Grade C or above

  • Experienced in Computer Skills (word, emails, excel)

  • Customer Service Experience

Essential:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of people

  • Ability to present information to groups and individuals clearly and concisely

  • Good computer skills (Microsoft office)

  • Ability to prioritise and manage own workload effectively

  • Understanding and commitment to the ethos of the charity

Charity Ambassador (Part-Time: Voluntary Role)

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Charity Ambassador to join our team in a part-time voluntary role. The ideal candidate will support our mission of providing essential support to individuals impacted by cancer by raising awareness within the community and enhancing our profile among businesses and corporations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is energized by community service and skilled in building relationships.

Key Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:

Community Engagement:

  • Actively represent and promote our cancer support charity within the community.
  • Organise and participate in local events to raise awareness and support for our initiatives.

Corporate Relationships:

  • Identify and establish relationships with local businesses and corporations to explore partnership opportunities.
  • Present the charity’s mission and objectives to businesses, emphasizing their role in support efforts.

Fundraising Support:

  • Collaborate with businesses to create fundraising initiatives that benefit our charity.
  • Assist in planning and executing fundraising events, ensuring effective promotion and participation.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR):

  • Advocate for CSR opportunities by presenting partnership proposals that align with our charity’s goals.
  • Engage companies in supporting our mission through sponsorships, donations, and employee volunteer programs.

Networking:

  • Attend networking events and community gatherings to represent the charity and build professional connections.

Volunteer position

Volunteer Monetary Donation Towers Collector

Award winning charity, Together Against Cancer, are seeking a volunteer monetary donation towers collector to support our centre. 

Reporting to the Centre Manager, the role of a Monetary Donation Tower (MDT) Collector involves the collection of donations from a donation tower, which is a plastic tower used to collect monetary donations in retail outlets, public houses, offices, etc.

This is a key role in generating income and raising awareness of Together Against Cancer in the community. 

Location

From home, visiting various locations in Leicester & Leicestershire

Hours

Variable, 2-3 hours every 3 months

Key Volunteer Duties

The Monetary Donation Tower (MDT) Collector liaises between the Donation Tower Holder and Together Against Cancer (TAC) 

  • Supports the fundraising team to find new outlets for donation towers
  • Removes full MDT’s and replaces with empty ones
  • Counts and banks monies collected or arranges transfer of the MDT to TAC, to be agreed with TAC
Essential Requirements
  • A successful DBS Check
  • Numerate sufficient to cash up an MDT
  • Full driving Licence and use of a car if MDT holder is not local/walking distance from volunteer home
Personal Qualities to fulfil role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Friendly, flexible, reliable and trustworthy
  • Have a genuine interest in raising funds to support the work of Together Against Cancer
  • Able to work on their own
  • Situational awareness and alert to suspicious behaviour
  • Guidance will be given by the Centre Manager to support volunteers to fulfil their role, lone working, safe handling of money, safe systems for collection of monies etc.
